Job Description We are seeking a senior level, experienced
lawyer to serve in a key role within the BAE Systems legal team,
acting as senior labor and employment counsel to our internal
clients.In this position, you will report to and assist the Deputy
Chief Counsel, Labor and Employment in providing legal advice and
representation involving labor and employment matters where the
Company, including its subsidiaries and affiliates is, or would be,
a party. These duties include, but are not limited to, providing
legal opinions, interpretations, drafting of documents and other
general legal assistance to all levels of Company personnel and
management on legal issues affecting the Company.The successful
hire will ensure the business is in compliance with, and operates
ethically within all relevant corporate and governmental
directives, policies, regulations, and laws in its transactions and
protect the company against potential claims and litigation.This
role is required to be performed in a hybrid remote format, with
the individual splitting their time between our office (located in
any of the following, in this preferred order: Nashua, NH;
Arlington, VA; Fort Wayne, IN; Endicott, NY), and remotely.
Candidates must either currently reside within a commutable
distance of one of these locations, or be willing to relocate to
the respective metro area of one of these sites.Duties &
Responsibilities to include:
- This person will function as a senior level labor and
employment specialist supporting the Deputy Chief Counsel, Labor
and Employment and the Vice President and Chief Counsel, but have
the ability to work independently and autonomously.
- Serve as a trusted and reliable advisor to Human Resources and
key business stakeholders, providing advice and counsel on all
aspects of day-to-day employment-related matters, including hiring,
promotion and pay equity, discipline and termination, harassment,
discrimination and retaliation, leaves of absence, reasonable
accommodations, wage and hour compliance, independent contractor
issues, internal investigations and other related matters.
- Partner with Human Resources, Ethics, Security and Safety
Health & Environment (SHE) on internal investigations of employee
relations matters, including employee misconduct, discrimination
and/or harassment complaints, ethical business conduct/conflict of
interest concerns, security, and safety concerns.
- Analyze, prepare, and review various matters to ensure the
Company's interests are protected. Will be expected to consult with
or refer matters to outside counsel as required, typically upon
approval of the Deputy Chief Counsel, Labor and Employment.
- Independently represent and defend the Company before
administrative agencies (e.g., EEOC, DOL, or equivalent state and
local agencies). Independently interview and prepare witnesses,
prepare position statements, and handle all aspects of
administrative hearings.
- Review and advise on recruiting and hiring related matters,
including conflicts of interest and compliance with post-government
employment and revolving door laws.
- Review, advise and provide counsel on risks associated with
involuntary terminations, reductions in force, and draft and
negotiate separation packages, as appropriate.
- Proactively and cost-effectively manage litigation in the
fields of labor, employment and environmental claims, including
oversight of outside counsel as appropriate, drafting/reviewing
pleadings, developing strategy, facilitating the gathering of
information (documents, interviews), and making recommendations at
key stages in the process.
- Support Human Resources and labor management professionals
during collective bargaining negotiations, grievances, and other
union matters.
- Conduct legal research as needed and prepare opinions.
- Review and revise personnel policies, procedures and other
Company guidance documents.
- Develop and present timely and user-friendly training to Human
Resources and management on employment related topics.
- Review and interpret FAR/DFARS, statutes, government
regulations, and executive orders; stay up-to-date on changes in
employment and labor laws and provide tailored advice to
stakeholders on any policy, process or other change.
- Provide legal advice in ethics investigations; may be asked to
serve as lead investigator in high-level or sensitive matters.
- Provide legal advice in support of the company's personal data
protection program, including specifically providing guidance to
ensure compliance with applicable data privacy laws and
regulations.
- Review, interpret, and draft company policies and
procedures.
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of various legal
training courses.
- Assist in company merger and acquisition efforts as
needed.
- Assist in company real estate efforts as needed.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.This position is part of the
Electronic Systems Legal Department, a dedicated and collegial

contributions.Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Education/Bar Requirements:
- JD from an ABA accredited law school;
- Admitted to practice law in a US jurisdiction required;
- Eligible to be admitted to state bar as corporate counsel at
primary work location, as applicable.Experience:
- Minimum of 10+ years relevant experience in employment law as
follows:
- Labor relations experience required
- You will need excellent verbal and written skills and the
ability to deal with executives and employees at all levels
- Outstanding organizational and analytical skills required
- Work independently, but collaboratively in a team setting while
displaying a high level of self-direction and sound judgment
- Must be a self-starter, have a pro-active approach to address
issues before they create legal exposure; able to handle a
multitude of complex and challenging situations
- Desktop computer competency to include proficiency in Westlaw
and MS Office Suite, including Teams
- US Person required. Ability to obtain security clearance
required.Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Combination of prior in-house and law firm experience with a
mid-to-large law firm in employment / labor section is preferred;
prior experience as an employment litigator also preferred.
- Real estate and/or environmental experience preferred.Pay
InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $169630 - $288370Please note:
This range is based on our market pay structures. However,
individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors
including, but not limited to: business considerations, local
market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate
